Safe Church

Good Shepherd adheres to our Diocesan policy of creating a safe environment for everyone through implementation of Praesidium Academy -- training for staff, wardens, vestry, group leaders, and volunteers  --   to protect those in our care from abuse and to help preserve trust in our procedures and policies. 

Safe Church is administered through Praesidium and underwritten by Church Pension Group to educate staff and volunteers who serve in a leadership capacity about best practices for abuse prevention for  children and adults. Training is done in two parts. Part I is a series of online education modules, and Part II is an in-person or Zoom meeting with a trainer. 

Clergy, staff, vestry members, wardens and officers, volunteers in Children and Family ministries, Eucharistic Visitors, and small group leaders. 

If you serve in any of the areas listed above, you will be contacted by our Safe Church Coordinator, Lynn Evens. She will forward instructions and information on completing the course. You can contact her directly at account@goodsheponline.org. Once you have completed the part I modules you can register for Part II. 

Part II may be completed by Zoom or in-person. You can register only after you have completed all of the assigned modules in Part I which we will confirm with you. Training happens most months through our Diocese and we sometimes have in-person Part II training at Good Shepherd.
