Christian Formation is a life-long learning process. No one is ever “formed”. We are always in formation. At Good Shepherd, formation begins at an early age. We seek to answer God's call to support the unity and strength of families through the unity and strength of God in an inclusive, welcoming and loving, spiritual environment. We aim to build a strong foundation of faith, nurture young lives, support families, and foster genuine community relationships.
Youth Faith formation for young people in grades 6-12. Activities are designed to build community, establish trust and safety, and remind youth that this is their church and they are welcome within it. Youth Group meets on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 PM during the school year in "The Barn," our newly renovated youth space! Dinner is provided, bring a friend and come check it out! Youth Group does not meet weekly in the summer, but does offer special events, mission trips and pilgrimage.
A program for all children Pre-K through 5th grade. Families go to church together and during the service, children will process out with their teachers for Sunday School. They return to their families in time for communion. Sunday School is offered year-round except on Christmas week and Easter Sunday.
Our curriculum, Feasting on the Word, is a lectionary-based program, meaning children will focus on one of the readings their parents hear during the service. Each week we begin our class with prayer. Then we hear our Bible story. We talk about the story and how it applies to our lives. Then we respond to the story with a creative activity. Children return to the service during the announcements.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to supporting not just individuals, but entire families. We believe that when families are strong, communities flourish, and faith deepens. That's why we provide support to the whole family while fostering a strong, connected community within our church families.
Family Life comes with many challenges, from raising children to to navigating life's unexpected difficulties. Good Shepherd stands as a pillar of support, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical resources for every stage of life.
The Youth Ministry participates in special events throughout the Church calendar such as food drives, Advent and Easter activities, VBS, and fundraisers. Contact the church office (561-746-4674) for more information.
Youth are encouraged to participate as acolytes helping clergy and lay members of the parish during worship services. Youth in grades 5-12 are welcome to train for this important role. Contact the office for more information.
Each year, members of Youth Group embark on a distance service project or spiritual pilgrimage. Destinations may be regional, national, or international, but the experiences are always close to the heart of those participating. These experiences encourage community and establish lasting bonds among those attending.
High School age youth are encouraged to seek confirmation preparation as an outward acknowledgement of commitment to the Baptismal Covenant. This one-year program meets weekly and culminates in confirmation with the Bishop at a special service in the fall.
Children of the parish and school, PreK-3 through 5th grade, and the greater community are invited to a fun-fulled week of Christian learning and fellowship. With a summer camp atmosphere, VBS is about music, games, story, enrichment, and even snacks! The program changes each summer. Watch the announcement page for information and dates.
We are always grateful for volunteer assistance from adults and Youth in grades 6 - 12. To volunteer in any of a variety of roles contact the office for more information.
